e-Visa (service)
Some nationals travelling Kuwait for a short visit (sightseeing/ business/official) can apply the entry visa online ahead of arrival in the country.
You can access the Kuwait Ministry of Interior’s website below to process the application. Please apply within one month from the departure date. If you apply more than one month ahead of departure date, the visa might be expired before your departure.

- The visa allows you to stay for maximum 3 months starting from the date of entry.
- Passenger should be holding a passport valid for more than 6 months from the date of travel to Kuwait. Blank space is needed at least two facing pages.
- The visa fee is 3 Kuwaiti Dinar.
Visit Visa (sightseeing/ business)
Japanese nationals can apply the entry visa at the visa counter in Kuwait International Airport upon their arrival to Kuwait.
- The concerned authorities in the state of Kuwait shall reserve the right to refuse admitting any person into the country without explanation.
- Passenger should not be black listed in the state of Kuwait.
- Passenger should be holding a passport valid for more than 6 months from the date of travel to Kuwait. Blank space is needed at least two facing pages.
- Passenger should register his residence address in Kuwait when applying for the visa at visas counter at the airport.
- The required fee is 3 Kuwaiti Dinar.
The fee is subject to change without prior notice. - All visas are valid for 3 month from the date of entry.
- Visa is valid for ONE ENTRY ONLY. No multiple entry or transit visa issued.
- Non-Japanese nationals are requested to contact kuwait Embassy in their home country to clalify if they can obtain Entry visas at the airport upon their arrival. For the nationals who shall not be granted the Entry visas at the airport, they must apply N.O.C. (No Objection Certificate) through their sponsor in Kuwait prior to their departure. To apply N.O.C., inform your sponsor in Kuwait (visiting company/organization or a hotel which you will stay can be a sponsor) of applicant’s data (Passport information, purpose of visit, period of visit, and so on). Then the sponsor will apply N.O.C. at Immigration office, Ministry of Interior, Kuwait. As N.O.C. is issued, the copy of N.O.C. will be sent to the applicant so that the applicant can enter Kuwait with it.
Diplomatic / Official VISA (Japanese passport holders)
- Diplomatic or Official passport with minimum of 6 months validity. Blank space is needed at least two facing pages.
- Passport copy showing applicant’s basic data such as full name, Passport number, photo, and so on.
- One application form completed and signed by the applicant (CLICK HERE)
- One photograph (3 x 3.5 cm)
- Original diplomatic note, describing the nature of work, length of stay, and reference in Kuwait.
- All visas are valid for 3 months from the date of issue and 1 month duration of stay.
- You will be contacted once there is any inconvenience.
Work Permit Visa (Japanese passport holders & Foreign Resident in Japan)
※Please apply for your Work permit through your sponsor in Kuwait. As you receive the “ELECTRONIC VISA” from your sponsor in Kuwait, please bring the followings to the Embassy.- A Passport with minimum of 6 months validity. Blank space is needed at least two facing pages.
- Passport copy showing applicant’s basic data such as full name, Passport number, photo, and so on.
- One application form completed and signed by the applicant (CLICK HERE)
- One photograph (3 x 3.5 cm)
- ELECTRONIC VISA (Paper sent from the applicant’s employer in Kuwait prior to applying for Work Permit visa at the Embassy.)
- Medical certificate (in English) including the basic items and result of HIV test, Hepatitis B & C, and chest X-ray test.
- Police Clearance Certificate issued from your local police station.
- Medical certificate and police certificate must be legalized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan prior to applying at the Embassy.
- The validity of Medical Certificate and Police Clearance Certificate is for 3 months at the time of entry to Kuwait.
- Copy of Japanese Resident Card (“Zairyu card”) ※Foreign resident only
- A fee: 25,000 Yen. The fee must be paid by cash.
Family Visa (Japanese passport holders and Foreign residents in Japan)
- A Passport with minimum of 6 months validity. Blank space is needed at least two facing pages.
- Passport copy showing applicant’s basic data such as full name, Passport number, photo, and so on.
- Copy of the Foreigner’s resident card (“Zairyu card”)※Foreign resident only
- One application form completed and signed by the applicant (CLICK HERE)
- One passport size photograph
- ELECTRONIC VISA (Paper sent from the applicant’s sponsor in Kuwait prior to applying for Work Permit visa at the Embassy.)
- Medical certificate (in English) including the basic items and result of HIV test, Hepatitis B & C, and chest X-ray test.(Age 12 and over. Vaccination record is required for the children aged 5-11 years old.)
- Police Clearance Certificate issued within 3 months when entering Kuwait from your local police station.(Age 18 and over)
- Medical certificate / Vaccination record and Police Clearance Certificate must be legalized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan prior to applying at the Embassy.
- The validity of Medical Certificate and Police Clearance Certificate is for 3 months at the time of entry to Kuwait.
- A fee 15,000 Yen (Over 18 years old)/ 10,000 Yen (Age 5-17 years old)/ Free (Under 4 years old). The fee must be paid by cash.
Pick-up date
Business VISA / Diplomatic & Official VISA (for short stay) / Work Permit / Family VISA ・・・at least 2 working days later
Diplomatic & Official VISA (to be assigned for Japan Embassy in Kuwait) ・・・ approximately 10 days later
