H.E. Ambassador Al-Otaibi Receives H.E. Mr. Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, Member of the House of Representatives of Japan
His Excellency Ambassador Abdul-Rahman Humood Al-Otaibi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Japan, received at his office H.E. Mr. Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi, Member of the House of Representatives of Japan and H.E. Mr. Hideaki Mizukoshi, Deputy Director-General for Global Issues and Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department and Ambassador for Civil Society at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Mr. Hamad Al-Mulla, First Secretary at the Embassy, and Mr. Kousuke Kiga from the Second Middle East Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, their Excellencies discussed various issues of mutual interest to both Japan and the State of Kuwait and the ways to further promote the bilateral relations on a multitude of levels.
H.E. Mr. Yamaguchi conveyed Japan’s request of support to the proposal that it will make at the United Nations to designate the 5th of November as a “World Tsunami Day”, with the aim of raising awareness of precautionary measures against tsunamis around the world in order to contribute to saving lives and properties.
H.E. Ambassador Al-Otaibi reiterated the State of Kuwait’s continuous support to the efforts aiming at creating a safer world, and highlighted Kuwait’s contributions to reducing disaster risk around the globe.
His Excellency reaffirmed his willingness to continue working with the concerned officials in Japan to deepen the partnership between our countries. He stated that the ties of friendship between the peoples of Kuwait and Japan shall remain strong, and a clear proof of this friendship was the support that Kuwait extended to Japan in the aftermath of the devastating Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
